HOMED ANIMALS - A NEW START
One of the main
aims of the Stray Animals Support Group is the rehoming of as many abandoned animals as
possible. Any cat or dog that is rescued is first cared for until it is healthy
again and then neutered and prepared for re-homing.
We look for new homes for these cats and dogs in Malta. However, very few people
are willing to adopt adult pets and it has become more and more difficult to rehome
these loving pets locally.
SASG has close contact
with 2/3 Animal Welfare Organisations in Germany. With the help of our Germany friends
we have managed to find several homes for our cats and dogs in Germany.
The new homes and families are carefully monitored by our German friends and the progress
of their new pet is checked very regularly.
In the last two years several dogs and an even bigger number of cats, some of them maimed,
handicapped or blind, have been found new homes with concerned and loving families.
It gives us great satisfaction to receive progress reports regarding the change for the
better in the lives of these once abandoned and abused animals.
Jill enjoying the feel of snow for the first time
Our Jill
left Malta a few weeks ago to go 'home' to her new family. Jill was in the
refuge for several months after she was abandoned by her owners. Being rather
scared and timid, she was often overlooked by visitors looking for a new
pet. Jill is now living with her new family in Germany where she gets much love
and attention. She has regained all her trust and confidence, as she proudly demonstrates.

Spikie and Scooby enjoying a game
Both Spikie and Scooby were abandoned by their previous owners. The same German family
gave them a home where their welfare comes first and foremost.

Lennox and friend running free in a German forest
Lennox
was one of our rescued dogs to find a home in Germany. Lennox was a very timid and frightened
young dog when he was brought to the shelter, having been ill treated and beaten. Lennox is
now a much loved dog and enjoying life to the full!!!

Bommel
Bommel was an old tom-cat living in a cat colony.
He gradually got blind.
We rescued him, neutered him, looked after him and eventually found,
for him, a wonderful home with his new love in Germany.
Life couldn't be better now!
Lewis trying to cope with the stresses of life
Lewis, a young one-eyed
cat was unceremoniously dumped by his owner. He was picked up by a kind person and brought to
our cat-bay. He was neutered and cared for by members of SASG until a new home was found for him.
Lewis now lives like a prince.
Ozzy trying out his new dishwasher.
Ozzy,a beautiful young cross
Persian, was found dumped in the middle of nowhere. Members of SASG took him in and fostered him
until a good home was found for him.
These are just
a few of the cats and dogs that are now enjoying A New Start thanks to the
hard work of SASG and the co-operation of our German friends.
Other heart-warming stories include the stories of:
Suzanna(dog), blind when she left Malta, now able to see again after eye operations in Germany.
Ginger (cat) also left Malta in darkness. Now his sight has been restored.
Wobbles, a brain-damage cat, now the joy of his new owner who flew to Malta especially
to accompany him on his journey.
Pete (cat), blinded in one eye after being hit by a car, and now living in Switzerland, together
with Marmi another of our rescued cats.
AND SO MANY MORE...............
A New Start
Homing dogs and cats
abroad is an expensive process. Some people question if it is worth
spending money on homing pets in other countries. When we see the love
these animals receive and the change for the better in their lives, the happiness
that reflects in their eyes, their posture and attitude, the answer is, YES! it is all worth while.
Please help make it
possible for more and more cats and dogs to find good loving homes, wherever these
may be. How you can help
